Total Quality Management - Transformation

Competitiveness in world markets is critical to the well-being of the American industrial enterprise. Competitiveness is enhanced by process improvement and innovation, which are achieved through a focus on quality. The benefits of enhanced quality are reduced rework, greater productivity, lower cost, price flexibility, improved competitive position, increase demand, larger profits, more jobs, and more secure jobs. PDCA: Plan, Do, Check, Act. The Shewhart Cycle, a concept based on a never-ending cycle of Plan-Do-Check-Act. New concepts are planned, implemented on a pilot basis, studied and the positive aspects are incorporated into the organization. The PDCA Cycle is an adaption of the Deming wheel. Where Deming wheel stresses the need for constant interaction among redsearch, design, production, and sales, the PDCA Cycle asserts that eveery managerial action can be improved by careful application of the sequence: plan, do, check, action.

One of Hoshin Kanri's greatest strengths is its ability to translate high-level, executive-level goals into quantitative, achievable actions. HOSHIN KANRI is a system that encourages employees to analyze situations, create plans for improvement, conduct performance checks, and appropriate action.
